PINK PALACE: DROP DEAD GORGEOUS

Pink Palace presents the deliciously twisted cult 90's pageant comedy DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. With a stellar cast and a depraved plot, this low budget gem bewildered critics and audiences alike at the time of release, apart from queer audiences who lapped up this hilarious and jaw-dropingly inappropriate mockumentary. A twisted comedy about America's obsession with beauty. In small-town Minnesota, teenage girls Amber (Dunst) and Becky (Richards) become rivals after they both enter a local beauty pageant. Amber is the homely daughter of beer-swilling Annette (Ellen Barkin) while Becky is the spoiled daughter of wealthy socialite, and former pageant winner, Gladys (Kirstie Alley). Both want to win, and as their rivalry grows, the bodies of their opponents begin to pile up with murderous regularity. "...not your average coming of age tale... the quintessential pick for those living on the outskirts of the norm, looking in with a scathing eye... one can’t help being surprised that John Waters had no participation in it."
