Celebrating David Lynch: Fire Walk With Me + Shorts

Join us at the Rio Cinema in a celebration of the life and work of David Lynch. We will be screening Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, alongside half an hour of shorts to commemorate a monumental artist. The influence and guiding-light of a generation of filmmakers, David Lynch was dubbed ‘the first popular surrealist’ by Pauline Kael in 1986. His work spanned television, film, painting, sculpture, music and writing, and though many have tried, he is inimitable. Rio Cinema presents a rare opportunity to come together and see this work on the big screen: the first half an hour of our big-screen tribute will be a selection of Lynch’s shorts. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is the haunting depiction of the final days of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). Lynch empathetically explores the troubles of a teenage girl inside the underbelly of small town America. The feature length prequel to the Twin Peaks series is seen and never forgotten, flipping a typical detective story upon its head and imbued with Lynch’s vision of Americana. Expect plenty of coffee, doughnuts and cherry pie as well as a take-over of the Rio’s lobby and a David Lynch raffle with prizes to be announced - every ticket holder receives one free raffle ticket. Rio Cinema, Screen 1, screening begins at 8.30pm. Please note, there will be no ads or trailers for our David Lynch Celebration and the screening will begin at the advertised start time. Trigger warning: Fire Walk With Me contains scenes of sexual violence. REST IN PEACE DAVID LYNCH 1946-2025. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE DOUGHNUT, NOT ON THE HOLE.LynchianPT3H152025-02-22
