Doc'N Roll: LITTLE EDEN - THE BEVIS FROND + Q&A WITH DIRECTORS + BAND MEMBERS, HOSTED BY STEWART LEE

Doc'n Roll Film Festival Presents the World Premiere of LITTLE EDEN - THE BEVIS FROND plus Q&A WITH DIRECTORS + BAND MEMBERS, HOSTED BY STEWART LEE Despite a marked lack of interest from the wider music industry, singer-songwriter and guitarist Nick Saloman has spent the best part of 40 years maintaining a thriving recording and touring career as the creative force of The Bevis Frond. His band’s unclassifiable mix of chiming pop melodies, neo-psychedelic rock, folk, blues, punk aggression and propulsive guitar licks, underpinned by beautifully observed, elegiac and very English lyrics, has won them an avid and ever-growing global fanbase. Saloman’s songs have been covered by peers including The Lemonheads, Teenage Fanclub, Elliot Smith and Juliana Hatfield, while bands such as Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. point to The Bevis Frond as pioneers of indie distribution models. This playful documentary from the directors of The Ballad of Shirley Collins tells the story of the Frond over the course of a single, semi-fictionalised day in Saloman’s life, and offers a quietly inspiring example of how to succeed in the music industry on your own terms. All shot in the English coastal town of Hastings, the film features Moogs, badgers, septuagenarian footballers, seagulls and window cleaners, but most beguiling of all, it offers an eclectic soundtrack – by turns explosive, transcendental and exquisite – drawn from The Bevis Frond’s catalogue of 35 (often double) albums.Doc'N Roll: LITTLE EDEN - THE BEVIS FROND + Q&A WITH DIRECTORS + BAND MEMBERS, HOSTED BY STEWART LEE showing at: November 3, 5:00 pm
