Pink Palace presents Are You Proud? for Pride Month, a brilliant history of what Pride means (ie not corporate pink washing)

We are here, we exist and we are proud to exist!

“By standing in the numbers that stood, it made us realise we were one, of one mind, of one intention, of one thrust. We would not allow the reversal of all the rights that so many people have spent years fighting for.” Son Of A Tutu.

Combining rare archive footage with interviews from leading campaigners, Are You Proud? charts the LGBTQ+ movements momentous journey charting the joys and divisions toward equality. Celebrating the community’s greatest achievements, the film calls attention to the fights both past and present while asking tough questions about the future.

These pop up screenings are presented in a casual relaxed setting in the basement lounge with a state of the art LED screen and Dolby sound, seating is provided on a mix of chairs, bean bags, wheel chair spaces and stools in an informal manner. The screenings are a safe queer space and an open forum to stay and discuss the issues of the films afterwards. If you have any access questions please contact us, the basement is fully accessible by lift and has gender neutral and accessible toilets.

Pink Palace is a reference to the space being part of the original Kingsland Palace of Animated Varieties which opened in August 1909. Pink Palace screenings are supported by Hello Again Hackney.
