Synopsis

Sophie Marceau and André Dussolier star in a tour-de-force look at life, dignity, and conciliation with the unavoidable end in Francois Ozon’s much acclaimed and often surprisingly funny, portrait of a very complicated family.

When 85-year-old André has a stroke, his eldest daughter Emmanuèle  hurries to see him in hospital. Sick and half-paralysed, he asks Emmanuèle to help organise the end of his life. But André has never been the most loving or lovable father…

Based on an autobiographical novel by Ozon’s late long-time writing partner Emmanuèle Bernheim, EVERYTHING WENT FINE is a moving but unsentimental reflection on a lifetime filled with tension, laughter, guilt and, ultimately, love. Marceau and Dussolier, together with Charlotte Rampling as André’s estranged wife, give an acting masterclass.
