Synopsis

ONE MAN AND HIS SHOES is the story of global phenomenon as told by the people that made it happen. It is also a parable of America's love affair with consumer capitalism and celebrity culture that shows how popular culture can be hijacked and hacked and how we can be manipulated into associating athletic ability, competitive success, self-worth, desire and esteem – with a shoe.


In the 1980s, Nike was a struggling company until they decided to target a younger market. With legendary basketball player and symbol of Black progress, Michael Jordan hired to front the campaign, and a young Spike Lee directing the promos, Nike created the perfect platform and it became of the most profitable companies in the world.  But a darker side of the Air Jordan success story began to emerge when the high price tag, and a low supply/high demand strategy fuelled violent attacks and even murder.
