Synopsis

Director Ken Loach and writer Paul Laverty follow the wonderful I, DANIEL BLAKE, with SORRY WE MISSED YOU - a captivating and compassionate portrait of a family and the challenges they face trying to hold it all together.

Ricky, Abby and their two children have been fighting an uphill struggle since the 2008 financial crash. An opportunity to wrestle back some of the independence they crave appears with a shiny new van and Ricky’s chance to run a franchise as a self-employed delivery driver.  It's hard work, and his wife's job as a carer is no easier. The family is strong but when they are pulled in different directions, everything comes to breaking point…

Ken Loach once again demonstrates his mastery of the personal and the political. His characters may often fail, but they do so in ways that defiantly emphasize their human dignity, while Paul Laverty’s magnificent screenplay never lets us forget that the victims of corporate avarice are not statistics, but individuals fighting for what everyone deserves: dignity and fairness.
