Returning from
America in 2003 to his West Bank village, Nasser Abufarha, son of a watermelon
farmer, finds farmers abandoning ancient olive groves. He builds a
movement to protect their land, preserving the ecosystem and centuries of
ecological knowledge. Facing threats from global agribusiness, middlemen and
expanding settlements, Land of Canaan reveals the farmers’ deep connection to
place, following Abufarha as he creates new social and economic ways to
preserve communities bound to the land.
This screening is in partnership with Zaytoun.
LAND OF
CANAAN will be shown in English and Arabic with English subtitles for Arabic
language.
