MAYA, GIVE ME A TITLE! (U) 1 hour 1 min
All ages
Maya and her dad live in two different countries. As a way to remain close to his daughter and continue to tell her bedtime stories, her dad asks her every night: “Maya, give me a title.” From each title, he imagines and creates a cartoon in which Maya is the heroine. Through these animated adventures, Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) brings to life a poetic and fun journey that will make children dream…and grown-ups smile.
Created using hand-made paper cut-out animation, stop motion and live action, the film brings together a series colourful miniature adventures using paper, scissors, and tape!
Festival notes
Screening in French with English subtitles
This lovely film from Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep) is only available in French with English subtitles. There’s nothing tricky or scary. The film has a U certificate and the stories are easy to follow, so if you’d like to bring younger children to try out a subtitled film (or if your children speak French!), you are very welcome.
