King of Them
All chronicles the underdog label that launched James Brown and transformed
American music.
Founded by Syd
Nathan in the 1940s, King Records pioneered an “all under one roof” operation,
recording, pressing and shipping groundbreaking music at remarkable speed. Rare
archival recordings and evocative imagery bring its story to life, from Little
Willie John and Hank Ballard to the Stanley Brothers. Featuring reflections
from Seymour Stein, Vince Gill and Christian McBride, the film celebrates a
fearless community of innovators whose soul, R&B, rock ’n’ roll and
bluegrass continue to reverberate through music today.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Yemi Oyediran
