DAO weaves together two ceremonies marking one family’s journey through love and loss. In the French countryside, Gloria marries off her daughter Nour; in Guinea-Bissau, she honours her late father, welcomed among the ancestors. Blending documentary and fiction, with the cast playing tender, unguarded versions of themselves, Alain Gomis explores the threads of migration, memory and legacy that connect generations across continents.
DAO is shown in French, Wolof, Manjak and Portuguese Creole with English subtitles.
This event is part of Black History Month and features a live Q&A with lead actor D'Johé Kouadio.
