The smell of doughnuts and candyfloss, vomiting on the waltzers and rides that probably haven’t passed any kind of safety test - don’t we all have fond memories of the fun fair? At Category H Film Club, we’re bringing the terror of the fairground Rio’s screen two with a late night double bill of MALATESTA’S CARNIVAL OF BLOOD + FINAL DESTINATION 3, as we enjoy A Night At The Funfair. 

Malatesta’s Carnival Of Blood is a surreal atmospheric tale of terror, with stunning sets and a constant creeping dread. After a couple's young son goes missing while working at a dilapidated funfair, they decide to take matters into their own hands and begin working at the carnival in order to uncover the truth behind his disappearance. Thanks to shut down rides, several sudden deaths and the pallid complexion of the employees, it quickly becomes clear that this is no ordinary funfair, but what will become of the latest hires? The most famous work from filmmaker and children’s theatre director Christopher Speeth, Malatesta’s Carnival Of Blood remains rarely screened and often overlooked. 

After a short break, we will return to the screen for Final Destination 3! A beloved entry into the Final Destination franchise, this features one of the most famous funfair setpieces in all of horror cinema. Although the familiar theme of premonitions and control return, Final Destination 3 is a stand alone film which sees a new cast of characters attempting to cheat death as they befall increasingly bizarre disasters. If you’re not already afraid of rollercoasters, you will never look at them the same after this!
