We’re gathered here today to experience the echoes of oral traditions through the lens of the internet's own horrific folklore, the Chinese whispers persisting in the digital imaginations of a web culture that must let the horrors persist. Dream Emulator (@dreamemulator.mp4) invites you to explore the folk horror found throughout internet pop culture, from creepypastas and ARGs to immersive game experiences. Folk horror has always embraced the influence of oral storytelling traditions, repeating stories with changes to reflect the context in which they’re retold, and the democratised storytelling of internet horror subcultures is no different. We look forward to hosting a horror closer to home, the fear running through this programme is of your community, country, land, or even home. The things you’ve known your whole life to be safe suddenly become, or perhaps always were, monsters in their own right.
