Before Saul Bass, movie title cards were generally generic pages that simply listed the cast and crew. Bass treated the opening credits as the "prologue" to the film, setting the climate for the unfolding story and enhancing the audience's emotional experience. Together with his wife and collaborator, Elaine Bass, he shaped what we now know as motion graphics.

It would be a simplification and an understatement to think of Saul Bass as just a poster designer and the creator of the greatest opening credits in the history of Western cinema. He was also a brilliant filmmaker. Tonight we celebrate his masterful collection of short films, including "Why Man Creates" is an eight-part meditation on the nature and struggle of creativity and the very trippy “The Quest”.

TV Party, Tonight returns for its season of obscure and radical oddities resurrected from the depths of film and television history. Short form and far-out. Single, Double and Triple bills. Bootlegs, VHS, Laserdisc, DVD Extras and Bonus Features. The intention is to delve deeply into the art and artist who disrupt convention and taste, who have no rules and fewer limits. From anarchic troublemakers to joyful provocateurs, these artifacts of dissent were made to challenge and amuse.
