Pink Palace: Adam + intro

Pink Palace presents this under-the-radar queer trans coming-of-age comedy from 2019, as Adam and those around him experience love, friendship and hard truths, with an intro by Oona who self-describes as Writer, Artist? Content creator with a creative practice centred around cakes, holidays and older men. A historical researcher specialising in late-20th-century trans social history and procrastinating.

Currently looking for housing and a job.

Awkward, self-conscious Adam Freeman has just finished his junior year of high school in 2006. When his cool older sister Casey suggests he visit her in New York for the Summer, Adam has visions of meeting a girl and finally gaining some actual life experience. But the fantasy doesn’t materialize exactly as expected.

Casey has thrown herself into the Brooklyn’s lesbian and trans activist scene and invites Adam to tag along with her to queer bars, marriage equality rallies and other happenings. When Adam falls at first sight for Gillian a smart, beautiful young woman in this new crowd, she mistakenly assumes he is trans. Flummoxed and enamoured, he haplessly goes along with her assumption, resulting in an increasingly complex comedy - and tragedy - of errors he’s ill-equipped to navigate.

Featuring a trans queer cast, the film also features a great cameo from M.J. Rodriguez (POSE).

“Adam proves why it's essential for trans creatives to have a role in telling stories about their community: Ernst presents Schrag's material from a distinctly trans perspective” Vanity Fair

Pink Palace is a super low fi highly relaxed weekly queer film club that takes place in the basement bar, its a safe space so come along and catch some queer film and pop culture history, each week the film is introduced by curator Andrew Woodyatt, feel free to stay and chat afterwards, participation is encouraged!

The screening is also an awareness and fund raiser for Camp Trans.

We are a muddy, sunny, joy-filled camping festival inspired by the first Camp Trans. An annual protest event held outside the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival during the 1990s. Demonstrating against the 'Womyn-born-Womyn' policy that excluded trans women.

Today, Camp Trans is organised by and is for people who are trans, non-binary, intersex and gender non-conforming.

Filled with art performances in the sun, workshops in fields and readings in the woods. Together we create healing and nurturing spaces within the contexts of nature, creativity, and community.

We ask for support from our community and allies to continue showcasing and paying trans creatives fairly, creating safer spaces for trans people, and acting as a catalyst for change outside of the festival. Thank you so much!
