For our July Classic Matinee, we’re heading to Sheffield with THE FULL MONTY, the beloved British comedy that strips away pride, prejudice and plenty of inhibitions.
After losing his job at the local steelworks, Gaz is desperate to raise money and prove himself to his young son. Inspired by the success of a touring male dance troupe, he recruits a group of fellow unemployed men to form their own act, promising they’ll go “the full monty.” What begins as a cheeky scheme becomes a warm and witty story of friendship, vulnerability and working-class resilience, with unforgettable performances from Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy and Tom Wilkinson.
Classic Matinee is our monthly senior screening, with tickets just £2.50 for those over 60, plus free tea, coffee and biscuits for all! Screenings are relaxed and accessible, with the lights left partially on throughout and a mid-film intermission. It’s a welcoming chance to socialise and enjoy the full 1930s atmosphere of the Rio, with the circle open for the classic cinema experience.
