Ego Death: An LSD Dream Emulator Rave

To Top off our LSD Season offering, we invite you join us for a rave inspired by the cult classic game LSD: Dream Emulator, from which we get our name. This will be a party powered by the Dream Emulator Soundsystem, with visuals from LSD: Dream Emulator (1998), and some of the myriad experiences it inspired which you’ll have seen throughout the rest of LSD Season. 

Such an original game experience deserves the rainbow carpet rolled out and every stop pulled, as such expect heady visuals, hypnotic grooves, and bass to pound your heart, eyes, and brain out to. 

Flicking through worldly experiences like pages in a book we’ll be rip roaring through genres and keys, the energy will be high, the mood ecstatic, euphoric, in short we’re going on a trip. 

The Night will consist of 4 phases, each visually and musically distinct: 

Coming up, this is your chance to slowly dip your toes in, starting slow, sparse, we’ll be adding bass, tempo, and colour the longer the night goes on. 

Peaking, is the ecstatic experience of melting into the air, your tongue dissolves into the sky, your body moves by itself, you are enraptured in the distilled happiness that is a 909 kick, repetitive rave stabs, and vocal chops straight outta heaven’s gates. 

Bad Trip, this is your descent into a nightmare realm, the visions turn erratic, dark, frightening, oppressive, you will only make it out alive with the help of a trusty trip sitter, although if you hold on tight you might just enjoy the frantic distorted kicks, screeching breakbeats and perhaps find beauty in the madness. 

Ego Death, is all of these sensations at once, pure sonic excess, textures, melodies, rhythms blend into one, if the bad trip overwhelmed with regret, this will wash over you with more feelings than you’ve ever felt in a single given moment, you should all hopefully shed a little tear at all of this coming to a head. 

Ticketholders may collect a hand assembled Dream Emulator zine, these will be available on a first come first served basis, with some of our older zines to purchase from the bar. A Sensory Area will be available in the Rio Cinema Screen 2, with ambient music and slower visuals than our upstairs experience, for any who need a pit stop. If you have bought a ticket to any of our other screenings for LSD Season, you should receive a discount code which you can redeem at any other events this season.
